More in Dur News

I really need a good Tolkien character for Tom “Durrrr” Dwan.  He can’t be Sauron. I already gave that away to Brian Townsend when he got suspended from Full Tilt for his collusion with other players to defeat Isildur1. Besides, Dwan just doesn’t have the right look for an evil character.  He always seems to be smiling in pictures.  Possibly because he’s winning a lot.  He has a sort of cheerful hobbit look to him, but only if hobbits play poker like demons. (then again, hobbits probably do.)  Durrr just doesn’t have the right look for Aragorn, I really envision Patrik Antonius more in that role. But given Durrr’s tendency to wear outrageous hats, sometimes flamingo hats, he may qualify for a wizard role. Hmm, I’ll have to think about it so I can keep up with my poker and Tolkien analogies because recently the online action for both Isildur1 and Tom “Durrrr” Dwan has been heating up.

This weekend both Durs walked away from their online poker sessions with plenty of profits.  Saturday saw Isildur1 and Durrrr battling it out at Pot-Limit Omaha, which seems to be Islidur1′s preferred game at the moment.  But Durrrr came out on top this time and left the session $81K ahead.  He came back later and went up against Patrik Antonius and others for another $624K in profit. Much of that was won from Antonius.  But then Aragorn was often surprised by the tenacity of young hobbits.

Meanwhile, Isildur1 wasn’t completely out of the battle.  But he wasn’t completely on his feet yet either.  He made up part of his loss to Durrrr, then lost nearly 200k. Then made some of that back before settling into a six max Pot Limit Omaha gang with Dwan, Antonious and others, including Ilari “Ziigmund” Sahamies who has the right look for a wizard.  Isildur1 finally found his battle stance and left that game just over $500K in winnings.  He played a few more games and won another 10K or so, finishing the weekend up $526,083.  Dwan meanwhile took another $300K off Antonius, who really needs to watch out for sneaky hobbits.  Antonius finished well down for the weekend and is probably feeling a bit like Aragorn trapped at Helm’s Deep.
