Opponents
Empire Poker doesn't have quite as many players as the bigger sites,
but still has a very decent-size player base that is loyal and likes to
play a lot. It can’t quite match the amount of traffic that its
sister site, Party Poker, receives. However, they still manage to have
thousands of players on most of the time, though they tend to be more
skilled than one would like. It still manages to be one of the most popular
poker sites out there, and as I mentioned before, the players are very
loyal.
Game Selection
Empire Poker, like its sister site, offers only the 5 big games: Texas
Holdem, Omaha, Omaha Hi/Low, 7 Card Stud, and 7 Card Stud Hi/Low. They
have a surprising number of no-limit games running at all times. They
even have a great selection of pot-limit games, which usually aren’t
that popular in online poker rooms. The limits range from $.50/$1 to $30/$60,
though anything above $10/$20 probably won’t have a great table
selection.
Rewards/Bonuses/Jackpots
Empire Poker offers some decent bonuses, and even some rewards. The bonus
money is given to you at $1 per 5 raked hands played. Empire Poker grants
a competitive 120%, up to, $200 bonus or a $50 flat-rate bonus on your
first deposit. Also, they offer some comeback bonuses, such as 20% up
to $50, to keep players returning. Their somewhat recent addition of the
rewards program (called VIP Club) allows players to get bonus cash or
merchandise depending on how many games and tournaments they play in.
Tournaments
The selection of single-table tournaments at Empire is simply fantastic.
The limits and games are extremely varied, and many of the people who
play in these tournaments are relatively weak – though still not
as weak as they might be at some other rooms. They don't have as many
multi-table tournaments as other sites, but the few that they do run are
pretty decent. If you love playing in single-table tournaments and don’t
mind a little competition, consider giving Empire Poker a try.
Customer Support
Like Party Poker, Empire Poker has discontinued offering easy over-the-phone
live support. Their email team is quite helpful and fairly quick with
responses, but they don’t seem to have a great handle on what they’re
talking about. Their cashout system also has a few kinks in it, and it
can take awhile for things to actually happen. I've never had any trouble
with depositing or cashing my money out, though, it just takes awhile.
